Why is my composite door fading?
Even though uPVC and composite doors are long lasting and durable, over time colours can fade. Even white uPVC and composite doors can discolour. You might notice a yellow tinge or ‘greying’ effect on white uPVC or composite doors over time. This problem is quite common but the good news is, the problem can be resolved!
You might also notice a discoloration or colour fading effect impacting your front door however the original colour of the door frame remains intact. So although hardy and tough, uPVC and composite materials are susceptible to damage at some point.
Damage from the sun can occur no matter how durable the material is. UV damage to uPVC or composite doors manifests itself as colour changing or fading. White uPVC can become yellow and darker shades might become lighter. In some cases, the texture of the door might also appear slightly ‘rough’ due to exposure to the elements.
Can you recolour or respray composite or uPVC doors?
The answer is yes! Our specialist teams have been working with customers for years to resolve a range of issues impacting the appearance of their uPVC or composite doors. One of our primary and most popular services is specialist respraying of uPVC and composite doors that have been damaged or show colour fading. Restoration requires a specialist skill set and materials. The surface of the door must be inspected and prepared for any respray or revival treatment. Our customers have the option of choosing an entirely new colour for their door or we can colour match the door to its original colour.
